Lucy Molnar Wing

Passed away peacefully, at Toronto, on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, following a long battle with cancer. Beloved mother of Cameron and Morgan – the lights of her life. Lovingly remembered by Dennis. Devoted daughter to Eva and the late Lesley Molnar. Treasured sister of Leslie (Deborah) and aunt to Emmeline.

Lucy was an accomplished artist, photographer, innovator, and social entrepreneur. Born in Budapest on September 2, 1951, her family moved to Canada in 1956. Lucy graduated from York University, the Chelsea School of Art in London, the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) and, ultimately, Ryerson University with a degree in Image Arts/Photographic Film Studies.

She worked as a landscape painter in the 80’s and 90’s, and as an award winning documentary photographer since.

Deeply engaged in her community over the past 20 years: Former President of the Guild of Royal St. Georges College, Director of the Lake of Bays Sailing and Tennis Clubs and past Director of the Canadian Stage Company.

A beautiful, strong-willed and proud woman, she tackled each new project with great spirit. In 2010, expanding on her passion for film and her love of Muskoka, Ontario, she founded Film North – the Huntsville International Film Festival - a showcase for emerging Canadian and International filmmakers. As its CEO until cancer disabled her, Lucy mentored a group of talented interns who have gone on to successful film careers.

Lucy would always light up the room, and her mere presence guaranteed lots of laughs and passionate discussion. She had a deep and vibrant network of loving friends and she derived great joy from adventures with them, whether golfing, trips abroad, city dinners or quiet times at her treasured cottage on Lake of Bays.

“Greeted with a profession of love at every sunrise and sunset. Forever loved; always missed.” Prematurely taken from her loving family and adoring friends, Lucy will  always be remembered.
